When it comes to slang terms, there are so many that we are well aware of while there are some that have been newly introduced and we are still looking for what exactly they mean. There is a slang term for literally every single emotion: be happy, stressed, angry, depressed you name it. You no longer have to use full sentences to express your emotions because all you have to do is use that word slang and you can easily communicate what you’re feeling.

There are various slang terms that are used to express emotions and out of these we are going to talk about the ones that are mostly used when somebody is not feeling good about something. We will explore a few slang terms that will help you express your emotions when you’re angry but the good part is they all have a slightly different meaning.

So, let’s dive right into the details of these slang terms.

Gutted

The first slang that we are going to talk about is one of the most commonly used slang terms when somebody is trying to express their frustration. This is a slang term that is more on the serious side and people use it when they’re really feeling devastated because of something. Whenever somebody loses something that can never be replaced in their life, they use the slang “gutted”.

This language is not new and it has been here roaming for a very long time now. The origin of this language is thought to be the removal of one of the most important organs in the body which is known as the gut. This slang implies as if somebody has their gut removed.

For example, people can say that “when we lost a final match in college, I was absolutely gutted”. This will make it clear that the person is feeling extremely devastated.

Bummed

The next slang that we are going to talk about is “bummed”. This again is a slang that is used by people commonly whenever they have to express that they are really annoyed or disappointed by something. This slang is definitely not as serious as gutted because it does not go to that extent. This is a general slang that people often use whenever they have to tell somebody that they are feeling really disappointed about something.

This is the term that again comes from another slang which is to loaf around, or to bum around which means wandering without any specific purpose. This term came from this slang and now it has become extremely popular among the youth.

If we talk about the usage of this, we can say that, "I was bummed when I got to know the interviews were postponed”. Anything that you feel disappointed about you can use this line for.

Pissed Off

If you have to talk about one of the most commonly used slang terms and the one that is extremely popular when it comes to expressing anger, it is pissed off. You may have heard a lot of celebrities using this slang for people who were trying to nag them constantly or by friends around you. Whenever a person is feeling irritated about something that they don’t really like they say they are pissed off about that.

There is no clear origin for this term. It is said that it came from the military and it came from the word piss and was later combined with off to express the strong emotion of being frustrated.

The example for this slang term can be, “My order has not arrived yet and I am feeling really pissed off”.

Miffed

The next slang term that we have to talk about when we’re talking about this category is “miffed”. This slang term is used by people when they’re not feeling extremely frustrated but they are still feeling a bit annoyed. This is a slang term that is more on the lighter side and it can be used when you do not want to offend the other person while also telling them that you are annoyed with them.

For example, this can be used as, “I am miffed by the chewing noise that you are making while eating”. It will tell the other person that you are annoyed with their habit without making it sound extremely rude.

Conclusive Remarks

These slang terms have made it really easy for people to express their emotions because now you can tell somebody that they’re extremely annoying without clearly saying that. From gutted to bummed to miffed, you can use these slang terms depending on how severe the situation is and you will not even sound unethical or rude.

So the next time something feels extremely heartbreaking you can just use the term gutted and express your emotions and people will not try to dig deep into your situation.
